The registration number is the one item the rules require on the pad itself. The other requirements are filled in for each patient: the patient’s name and address, the date, each medicine by its generic name written legibly and preferably in capital letters (Indian Medical Council Regulations, 2002, clause 1.5), the dose and the total quantity, and your signature.
Our guide to what a prescription must contain in India quotes each rule, including the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules for Schedule H and X medicines and the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines for prescriptions given by phone or video.
The doctor’s registration number, which clause 1.4.1 of the Indian Medical Council Regulations, 2002 requires on every prescription, certificate and receipt. A prescription also has to be signed and dated, and name the patient with their address (Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, rule 65(10)). Name, qualifications, clinic address and phone complete the letterhead.
A5 is half of an A4 sheet and is the common size for a pad kept at the consultation desk. A4 leaves more room for long prescriptions and diet or exercise advice. This maker prints either.
Yes. Dentists must also show their State Dental Council registration number on prescriptions, under clause 3.4.1 of the Revised Dentists (Code of Ethics) Regulations, 2014. Enter it in the registration number field.
In MyClinicDesk you pick medicines from your own list, set morning, afternoon and evening doses and the duration, and print on your letterhead with your registration number. Every prescription stays on the patient’s record.
